Empowering Parents: Understanding Student Rights in Education

Aces for Autism is proud to announce that we will be hosting a town-hall style event, Empowering Parents: Understanding Student Rights in Education, on Wednesday, July 31 from 6:30 to 8:00PM at the Ron and Rose Bowen Autism Campus, located at 654 Worthington Road in Winterville, NC.

This event is designed to support and empower parents—particularly those of students with autism—as they navigate the challenges of the public school system. Families often come to us with questions about educational rights, IEPs, and school advocacy, and this evening aims to provide clarity, guidance, and community connection.

We’re honored to welcome guest speakers Dan Unumb, President of the Autism Legal Resource Center, and Stacey Gahagan, Founding Partner at Gahagan Paradis, PLLC, who bring extensive experience in special education law and student advocacy.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and may also submit questions in advance through the RSVP form.

Dinner will be provided for in-person guests.

If you are unable to attend in person, a virtual attendance option is available upon request—just indicate your preference when submitting the RSVP.

Please RSVP by Monday, July 28 at: https://form.jotform.com/251764279283164.

We hope this event will be a meaningful step toward equipping families across eastern North Carolina and beyond with the tools they need to advocate effectively for their children.
